CiviMail tokens, and creation of website accounts on profiles
January 20, 2011, 03:07:07 am
Hi

If I include a CiviMail token in an email, the recipient can access a profile or contribution page as if they had navigated to that page via normal website links, except that:

(1) they only get the profile/contribution page, not the Joomla menus (modules) that normally sit on the page if you go there via the menu system; and
(2) they don't appear to get the option to create a website account (where they do not already have them).

I should imagine that the reason for (2) is that they are treated as being logged in already (via token), but actually it would be useful if the normal check was still done because I want the people who don't have an account to get one (not least because tokens have problems in that multiple family members use the same email address, computer and possibly different tabs on the browser all of which can cause me grief).

So to what extent is this specific to my install, and to what extent can either or both of these be overcome?

Thanks.
