Flumoxed by Personal Campaign Page
January 23, 2011, 06:35:25 pm
I have been reading doc and pushing buttons for a couple of hours without any understanding of what this is supposed to be when it is done or how to get there

I have created a contribution page (MY Contrib page), and made it to the UI piece titled

Personal Campaign Page Settings (MY Contrib page)

Where I

a) filled in 'Create Personal Campaign Page' link text

b) Enabled PCPs for this contribution page

I assume that this is supposed to "Allow constituents to create their own personal fundraising pages linked to this contribution page", and I assumed these pages
are meant to be created on my organizations web site (as opposed to somebody else's web site).  I assume the "link text" is supposed to show up somewhere on the
contribution page (but it doesn't).

What am I missing? are there any sample sites where this can be seen in action?

Thanks for any clues you can provide

Jonathan

Hi JonWex,
After a person completes a donation form they will be able to create their own fundraising page by clicking 'Create Personal Campaign Page' link text.
You will get more on this here :

Thanks.

Completing a  donation gets me further (odd design, I would have thought that the system would permit campaign pages without that).  I get to a page that shows "Supporter Profile" in blue and a Continue button (no fields display).  Without fields, the Continue button fails.  "Supporter Profile" exists in the system.

Obviously, this looks nothing like the page from the documentation you referenced.

I have screenshots but they are too big.  Let me know if there are any you need to see and I can try to shrink them.

Thanks
Jonathan

Further clarification

did all the above "in the backend" at Contribution pages / <my page> / Links / Live site, logged in as "admin"

Is it possible this only works "in the front end"????
