Please enter a package directory - installing civicrm component

Greetings,
Am new to Joomla.  I managed to install and configure civicrm on my local machine (localhost), and it worked well. Problem came when I uploaded the site to a remote server.  I have changed the file attributes to writable but they still reflect as unwritable within joomla global configurations.  This is puzzling because I am unable to re-install civicrm and the current uploaded version gives me the error
Warning: require_once(CRM/Core/Config.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/kauskeny/public_html/pausa/components/com_civicrm/civicrm.php on line 19.

Please help!!! ???

I think you need to sort out the directory permissions problem. Looks like Civi wasn't able to write the necessary config file on installation.

Also -- i note your mysql version is 4.x. Civi requires 5.x

Thanks. Looks like I will have to find another solution because my webhost say they cant upgrade mysql and Apache which is currently running at 1.3
