Membership directory -allow users to opt-out
January 26, 2011, 04:07:29 am
The membership directory (civicrm/profile?force=1&gid=1) has helped our SEO rankings quite a bit.  So, very happy about that. However, I have some people that would like their name removed from it.  Is there a way to switch who would show up and not show up on a contact by contact basis? (e.g. a switch similar to "No bulk emails" indicating "do not show me in membership directory")

If not, any help on how to specifically create one would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jeff

The easiest way might be to:

1. Use "Limit Listings to Group" in Advanced Settings in Profile

2. Use a smart group for all your contacts you want displayed

3. Remove the contacts from the above smart group who do not want to be in the directory

Alternativelu, you can create a custom field that says: include in directory, and mark it by default for everyone and use that for your smart group
