Here's one that's obvious to many, almost certainly in the documentation, but since it took me a while to figure it out I thought I'd post it in case someone else is having the same problem...

I'm trying to send a pretty invitation using an html mail template that is proven.

Unfortunately it was not working when sending from civiCRM using simple mail (i.e. send email action from a contact record) and I assumed not from civiMail, which of course I'll use for the 'real' mailing.

I was switching from rich text to source, and pasting in the code - looked good when composing, but nothing was being sent out. Until I deleted all the header and body tags.

This is all well documented, but again, just in case someone else.. and also a suggestion on a benefit of using civiMail that I've not noticed before.

When composing a civiMail message there is the option to upload a text (both html and plain) - this allows full control over positioning of the unsubscribe messages and other elements that are otherwise quite ugly, though necessary and functional.
