Using CiviCRM Standalone - custom pages
December 18, 2007, 11:32:07 am
The standalone aspect of civicrm is really interesting to me.
However, I cannot quite figure out how to do what I want.

I found how to grab the html/code for the contact fields data, but I would like to build a page which lists the contact's standard/custom data fields (to view/edit) as well as Activity data. I would like to be on the phone with a contact, and in one screne be able to update/add contact info, and add notes from my conversation. I know this must be do-able... right?

Thanks,

Tachikoma

The upcoming "standalone" version of CiviCRM allows you to run the application without installing it "inside" Drupal or Joomla. The requirement you've posted seems to be a separate issue - e.g. wanting to heavily customize the Contact Edit and View screens. The "built-in" versions of these screen don't change whether you're running inside a CMS or not.

That said,  I don't think the level of customization you're describing is possible w/o substantial hacking of the code. Profiles give you the ability to create custom "view" and "edit" forms - up to a point. But you can no include data from secondary records/objects (e.g. Activities, Notes...) in profiles.

The current plan is to include the first version of the standalone "mode" as part of the 2.0 release. Roadmap / schedule for 2.0 is here - altho I think we're a week or two behind what's posted there.

Oh man! I can't wait!

So, is there anyway to get in on the Beta, or only Core developers and their people?

We always make Beta releases available for download on Sourceforge - and rely on folks like you to help us find any problems that slip through our internal QA :-) There will be announcements to the forum as soon as it is available.
