Functionality issue on civicrm performance.
February 02, 2011, 07:04:54 am
Hi there i wonder if having and not having an email setting right for civicrm affects its performance. From your experience does email functionality affect the view of a form , or search capability ,donation or contribution .the reason i issue is my email function not configured for all the profiles and events as well as contribution .does it be a cause for empty title only page or it has no connection with it.if so what can i do to correct the email functionality.
And is any way to counter back the installation into a working mode.Installing the un working part like installing civic search or Dashboard independently without affecting the rest of the setting.
Or it might be a bug which doesn't get a threat so i can post into the bug report so all can benefit.
Thanks

Hi, mareligne

Yes, not having an internet connection will definitely affect the performance of Civi - especially after filling in forms for event / contribution / membership (it shouldn't affect the load-time for forms though), assigning activities, etc. The reason for this is that Civi automatically tries to send confirmation emails and, without a connection or a valid email server, it can't do that. Also, event info pages with maps won't load because they're trying to call information from google or yahoo.

In my experience, the pages *will* load eventually with a big error message at the top, but it'll definitely take a while.

Best,

r
