CiviMail not sending - using CiviSMTP
February 03, 2011, 03:02:28 am
Hi I hope you can help.

We have been using CiviSMTP for a year, although we don't use it very regularly. Trying to send a mailing out now and no emails arrive when I send through the test mail. Also when I tried to bypass the test and sent the mailing the report says that none of the emails reached their intended recipients.

I have checked that we are all paid up. I have checked the settings in my account which says they are all fine. The only thing that could have changed is that our hosting provider moved us to a new IP in January. Would this be the cause of the problem?

Am desperate to send out a mailing today so any thoughts/help would be greatly received.

Thanks,

Helene

BTW have upgraded to Civi CRM 3.3

Got this error message when testing the smtp settings: Failed to connect to civismtp.uas.coop:20095 [SMTP: Failed to connect socket: Connection timed out (code: -1, response: )]

Hi Helene,
Almost definitely. You need to get the IP address of the server that sends the mail to the SMTP server. Then, you need to update your SMTP account with the new IP address.

here's the line on the account screen:
IP Address of the machine from which you will be sending email: *

Hope this helps,
Cynthia

Hi Cynthia,

Thanks so much for your reply. I have changed the IP to the new location but the mail still wont send!

It does seem to be something to do with the SMTP settings though.

 ???

I'm getting the following message:
The mail library returned the following error message:
Failed to connect to civismtp.uas.coop:20095 [SMTP: Failed to connect socket: Connection timed out (code: -1, response: )]

OK - i've worked out what this is - thankfully!

When the site moved webservers the hosting went to previous defaults. This meant that the smtp port 200095 was closed. A quick mail to the hosting provider and all is fixed.

 :)
