Group Navigation
February 04, 2011, 12:54:35 pm
Firstly, I will say that I am new to CiviCRM and do not have an extensive technical background.

Basically, (this seems like It should be intuitive and easy) but I am trying to find a way that a User could easily navigate to a group of contacts and see descriptive properties of the group. Is there anyway to do this easily without having to go through Manage Groups? That seems chunky.

Basically in the organization, there are groups that do "Projects" a couple times a year. The internal staff who coordinate a lot of these, want to easily navigate to the groups they are working with, to the information for the contacts and the group as a whole. Is there any good way to do this? I saw you can "subscribe" to a group, and then on your contact dashboard it shows which you are subscribed to, but theres no link and no way to "view the information".  Any ideas?

I have a simple idea that may make you happy.

Go to Manage Groups and RIGHT click on the "Contacts" link and "Copy URL" or "Copy Link".

Now go to "Administer" > "Customize" > "Navigation Menu" and add the paste in the link as a New Menu Item (click button).  You can make the menu item available only to people with certain permissions, and it will serve as a shortcut to the information you want.

Is that helpful at all?  I hope so.
