Making Address Field searchable
February 07, 2011, 01:22:25 pm
Please excuse the newbie question.

In general search results, the Address column header is light gray and the column does not show street addresses (although the records do contain this information)

In Advanced Search, no records are found when searching by a stree address

The address field in the custom profile we have selected in Advanced Results is set to Yes for Searchable and Public Pages and Listings for Visability.

We'd like to be able to search contacts by street address.  What is missing in our set up that will make this possible?

Thanks!

f you do a basic search (Find Contacts) - do you see data in the Address column? If not, that indicates that for some reason some (all?) of your addresses where added w/o the "Primary" flag being set (only the primary address data from each contact shows in search results by default).

In general, you should be able to use Advanced Search (w/o a profile) to search by and view Street Address values. You can try this on the public demo (link above). I've attached a few screenshots of how it looks. (Note that it is possible to hide the "Address" search pane in Advanced Search by unchecking "Addresses" in the Contact Search checkbox section of "Site Preferences" (http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/display?reset=1 on the demo).
