track and trace?
February 08, 2011, 06:38:05 am
Hi all ...
I have been contacted by a beginning non-profit that is part of a larger international network.
This organization collects funding for boxes that are send to regions where a disasters happened.
The organization has warehouses full of boxes. Each box has its own track & trace number.
A business, household, individuals ... can donate money (buy a box).
When they do, they receive a track and trace number and they can view the status and location of they're box.

The organization is looking for a solution so they can:
- manage donors
- organize and view cashflows and collect funding
- send out mailings on specific intervals
- administer track&trace numbers
- assign track&trace numbers to donors
- let these donors track&trace there boxes

I know Drupal and CiviCRM are an ideal solution for 80%. The only concern i have is the track & trace part. This could be built in Drupal but how about integrating this with CiviCRM.

Any thought on this?
thanks already and have a great day!

Johan.

You can assign a track and trace number via the civicrm postProcess hook on the confirm page, and associate this with the contribution and hence the contact

workflow for maintaining and displaying the track and trace page will need to be either via a drupal module or civicrm extensions
