about the CRM design ?
December 20, 2007, 10:46:47 am
Hi, recently I am using Civicrm to implement a library council CRM system.

I am confused that what is the difference between organization and household.

the old database of this library council is access database. they have contacts information.
also they have the column in the access database to group the people who belong to different organization and company or membership.

I am trying to transfer all contacts to civicrm.

should I set up a group to distinguish people or create a new organization or household and set up the relationship between the contacts and organization.

you know, there is several ways to "group" contacts in civicrm.

i am not sure which way should be suitable to my case.

a typical example is :

In my contact list, there are some contacts belong to one company A.
I need to tag these contacts in civicrm.

there are two ways to do this:
1 create a new group and select these contacts.
2 create a new organization or household and a new relationship. set up the relationship between the contact and the company.

which way is correct to do this?

thank you

Bo

Creating an Organization contact record for each distinct Employer - and then using the Employee <-> Employer relationship to connect employees to their employer - is the most common approach for this.
