Privacy per field
February 10, 2011, 12:44:31 pm
I have a client who would like to allow people to choose by each field (first name, last name, address, etc.) whether it can be shown on a directory or not. But I haven't seen a way to do it that way - just that a field is public or not across the board, not that a person can choose for each field.

Is there a way to do it?

Ok. I think I can do it inside Views and create profile pages that way instead of within CiviCRM. It would just be so much easier this way. Some non-profits want to share their data with members, but not everyone is comfortable sharing everything. Especially if the organization works with sensitive matter, such as with the legal group I am working with right now.

can you elaborate a bit more on how u'd handle it using views and profile pages?

Would be great if the non-profits that want this feature could collaborate and help make it happen. Wanna help get that started and shepherd the process? Its a wee bit non-trivial since u need to store a value for each profile field for each contact (and could potentially get real big real soon)
