non-financial contributions
February 11, 2011, 12:46:57 pm
Hi,

Just new into CCRM and I'm wondering whether anyone else has implemented anything in CiviContribute to store non-financial donations?

I think I might have a use case where I want to store these types of gifts. An example would be donations of prizes for a fundraiser event or simply a donation of equipment to the charity.

It would be important to be able to see who had given what to; send out thank you letters, keep a history to see how partner organisations have donated not just money and to search in future.

Would some custom fields do the job and then add some searches/reports? How about using the normal value field to show an equivalent amount (but then how do you separate out the two types)? Could use contribution types too?

Interesting to hear of other's approaches.

Cheers,

Dave
