We asked Lobo this question and he suggested we share it on the forums:

For our non-profit we are looking to promote CiviCRM to be used as an integrated CRM and ecommerce platform in multiple countries.  We're looking for information / data points for the CiviCrm commerce (event-registration) system to increase the sense of credibility within our organization (the tendency is to go for home-grown)

If you have or know of data pertaining to the following points please do share. (We've done some amount of searching on google and on the forums already on this)

# commerce usage with transaction statistics (and any feedback if available)
# I18N usage including how many languages (and any feedback if available :)
# performance tests
# case studies of large-scale usage

Thanks in advance.

castigliana,

And i would feel proud to point out  some lines from Fen Labalm's blog : http://civicactions.com/blog/2010/oct/24/civicrm_developer_training
" Interspersed with coding sessions were presentations by the New York State Senate (presented by Kyle Jaster of rayogram, 63 CiviCRM instancesone per district - with over 15 million contacts total), The School Module (by Lobo), SimplyCivi (also by Kyle, a Drupal-7-ish CSS-based overlay for CiviCRM admin pages), and I reported on two CivicActions projects: Amnesty International (140K contacts, extensive use of CiviMail and custom searches), and The Recording Academy's Grammy365 "social network" that pushes the boundaries of membership management due to the rigorous and oft-times ad-hoc membership rules.  "
