PCRE 8.12 - How to use it?
February 15, 2011, 12:31:40 pm
Hi there,

I'm new to CiviCRM however I've been in IT for some time but as a MS SQL Database Developer.  My web skills are very light which I think is why I'm having trouble.  A friend of mine wants to try this application in a dev environment on his computer and since I'm the only IT person he knows well he has asked me to install it.

I'm using the following:

Windows 7 32 bit
IIS 7
PCRE 8.12
PHP 5.2.17  - VC6 Non Thread Safe
MySQL Server 5.1 Community Edition
MySQL Workbench 5.2 CE
Joomla 1.5.22
CiviCRM 3.3 - Well hope to be using.

I got stuck trying to configure PCRE 8.12.  In the end I had to download CMake 2.8 and MinGW to compile PCRE 8.12 with Unicode Support.  That seemed to work so now I have a PCRE build folder according to CMake.  The problem is I don't know what to do with it.

The PCRE build folder has files in it like:

CMakeFiles <directory>
cmake_install.cmake
CMakeCache.txt
config.h
CTestCustom.ctest
CTestTestfile.cmake
Makefile
pcre.h
pcre_chartables.c
pcre_stringpiece.h
pcrecpparg.h

Do I need to put this folder somewhere, do I need all the files???  I've browsed around a lot but have not stumbled across anything helpful.  Any tips would be wonderful =)

Kind regards,

Chris

  • CMS version: Drupal 6 mostly, still evaluating 7.
  • MySQL version: Mix of 5.0 / 5.1 / 5.5
  • PHP version: 5.3, usually on Windows

The standard windows release of php has pcre already. You don't need to install or configure anything separately.
