No Employer Autocomplete in Registration Form

Hello,
I have setup an event using CiviEvent. It contains a Profile which includes the registrant's Current Employer. This field does not use autocomplete however (I am thinking it should, but I'm not sure). Entering the name in manually causes a duplicate Organisation with that name to be added, and the new Individual as the only Employee, instead of adding the Individual to the correct organisation. I realise this is because organisations are not unique by their name, which is why I imagine the autocomplete widget should be there.

I am using Civicm 3.1.5 and Joomla 1.5.18. How would I go about fixing this?

Currently CiviCRM do not supports the auto complete field for Current employer in profiles. But you can read a blog post here. It will surely help you get a workaround.

Hi,

To be able to offer the list of org, the user need to be able to have access to the list of orgs (duh!). This might not be something you want to grant access to anonymous users.

At least with my suggested solution, means you need to grant access to civicrm to anonymous, definitely not something you'd do for anonymous.

It wouldn't be complicated to add a new ajax backend that you can configure to return only a subset of the org or whatever you need for anonymous users. If you need it can point you in the right direction to dev/sponsor it :)
