Profile used for search on the back end

I have setup several profiles used for custom searches which is working great, linked to custom Menu items in the Civi Main Menu in the back end.

my question is, after doing a search and getting the results I am looking for, I have no ability to select specific records, all records or perform any actions, like email, print, export, etc..

I've searched but coming up empty on this one - will keep looking though.

profile searches are not linked to any actions in the current (and prior) versions of civicrm

That's what I thought.

Would it be possible to extend "Actions" to profile searches?

If so, where do I tell my programmer to start. I will fund this if it is doable and contribute the code back.
