Opens not being tracked

Hello All,

We have CiviMail configured to send a test mailing.

It shows the number of emails sent and received.

When an email is opened by an email client, the 'Tracked Opens' does not change.

The following link is in the emails:
<img src="http://www.mailscanner.tv/1x1spacer.gif" width="1" height="1" alt="Web Bug from http://www.oursite.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/open.php?q=124" />

And the transparent image has been downloaded.

Only when a browser is pointed at the URL:
http://www.oursite.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/open.php?q=124

does CiviMail register that the email has been opened.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Because you have a mail scanner that changes the content of the mail and replace the image we use to track how many read by their own image.

Are you saying that the mail server rewrote:
"http://www.mailscanner.tv/1x1spacer.gif"
and that it should be something else?

Could you please explain in more detail as to how the 'Tracked Opens' is supposed to work?

Is it the request for the 1x1spacer.gif?

When I run:
locate 1x1spacer.gif

on my machine, there is no 1x1spacer.gif found.

Yes, your server or a antivirus/spam on your client. Create an email on gmail to see how it works.

It works by tracking who reads an image that you put in the mail. Search web bugs if you want more info.
