Custom fields for Relationships in Advanced Search?
December 21, 2007, 02:03:22 pm
Hm... How could I solve this problem:
I'd like to set a multiple relationship X between an Individual and a Household.
One Individual could have many relations with more than one Household.
I'd also like to set a custom searchable field "area" that is related to relationship X.

If I'd like to search for all matches of relationship X that also matches "area" with a value Y, how could I do that?

In fact, is there any possible chance to use those custom searchable fields for Relationship in advanced search?

I've just spotted this note:
NOTE: This feature is available to custom fields used for Contacts,Contributions, Memberships, and Event Participants at this time.

Maybe for now I could use Memberships instead of Relationships... if only this could work properly:

Yeah, I'm sure this could work if you could fix this bug (?).

If you have (or have access to) some basic php and sql skills, 2.0 will include a framework and sample files for creating your own custom search screens. You'll be able to decide on the search criteria (input fields) and the columns to be shown on the resultset - AND all the normal search result actions (export, print, etc.) will be automatically available.

We hope this will help fill in gaps in the search functionality - given that many organizations have very specific requirements for what they want to search on.
