Choosing profiles for multiple registrations
February 17, 2011, 06:34:32 am
I have set up an event and want allow multiple sign ups from the same email address. When I choose Name and Address profile (top of page) and CiviCRM Experience profile (bottom of page) for both the original person and for Additional Participants, I get the following error: Please correct the following errors in the form fields below:

    * Allow multiple registrations from the same email address requires a profile of type 'Individual'

The CiviCRM Experience profile is for a contact so I don't think this should cause an error. I don't desperately need to sort it but I thought I would report the problem.

Cheers guys  8)

Hi KatyJ,
Did you ever get this sorted out? I am encountering the same issue on CiviCRM 3.4.4.
Would appreciate any hints yo uhave from when you looked at this.
Regards,
Thomas

A contact can be (at least) an individual, a household or an organisation. So having a profile that is just of type "contact" would not be good enough. It would need to be of type "individual" or "individual, contact".

There seems to still be a bug in this area in 3.4.7.  I create and select a profile called Individual Name, which I created to include only First Name and Last Name from the Individual object, and I still get the error "Allow multiple registrations from the same email address requires a profile of type 'Individual'", but in my Profiles list I can see that Profile Individual Name is of Type Individual.  Odd.

Here is an older issue describing the same symptoms reported to be resolved in 3.3.3, but I'm seeing this in 3.4.8 on Drupal as well. The demo is now 4.1 so I can't confirm. Any other info on this?

Also getting this on 3.4.8, is there any fix available?

I can tell you what worked for me, but I am on 4.1.2: CiviEvent throws an error when you try save the online registration settings using a top of page profile of 'individual' and a bottom of page profile of anything other than 'individual' on the Additional Participants, correct?

For Additional Participants, I used an 'individual' profile for the top of page profile, set the bottom of page profile to 'no profile' and added another profile which I set to the profile of my choice. It worked for me.

Re: Choosing profiles for multiple registrations

We are on 4.2.15 and I just wanted to add that we still have this issue as well. Unlike the user above, the drop down options for profiles to include does not have 'no profile' to select from. The way I have got around this is by adding in an extra bottom of the page profile for the first and additional participants of the type 'Your Registration Info'.

This allows the form to be saved, and does no require info to be entered in twice. So for example, I want to collect the Fname, Lname, Email and Work Address Details (my custom profile) of each participant registered by a multiple registration.

In order to achieve this I have to have the following profiles:
New Individual
Your Registration Details
Work address Details

and the exact same for additional participants

New Individual
Your Registration Details
Work address Details

This is the only way I could get the form to save without the error msg showing up about the profile type 'individual' occurring. Whilst my New Individual (one of the default civi profiles) is definitely of the type individual, so this bug persists.
