Contact Double Opt In, Contact Update Own Info, Opt Out, Unsubscribe
December 21, 2007, 05:36:58 pm
- - - Double Opt In Option - - -
It would be nice to have an option for new contacts entered from standalone forms to have a double opt in option so that we are better assured that the new contact has control of the email address entered.

Contact Update Own Info
- - - - -
We allow a contact to unsubscribe or opt out, it would be nice for selected fields to allow a contact to update their own information using a link in an email that they received.

Contact Opt Out, Unsubscibe
- - - - - -
Unsubscribe and Optout with link to webpage rather than return email to be processed.  I'm unclear, we may have this now, but I've not figured out how to do it.  This would optionally, eliminate the need for the alternate Soap Imap proccessing.  Anything happening with this past request: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2256 - how about in v2?

Web (http) based Subscribe (with double-opt-in), Unsubscribe and Opt-out are all included in the 1.9 release  (as noted by the "resolved" status of the Jira issue you linked below).

The web-based subscribe is accessed via the following URL pattern (using our demo server as an example):
http://demo.civicrm.org/drupal/civicrm/mailing/subscribe?reset=1

... all groups of type "Mailing List" AND with public visibility are displayed on this form. Or you can add a group ID to the URL to provide signup for a specific group (gid=N):

http://demo.civicrm.org/drupal/civicrm/mailing/subscribe?reset=1&gid=2

The following wiki page describes the "tokens" you can use in CiviMail mailings which "resolve" to actions (e.g. web-based unsubscribe = {action.unsubscribeUrl} )

Thanks - I think I've missed the whole section on how to manage subscriptions.  In the demo I see that some of the subscriptions are groups, but not a perfect match - wonder where we manage subscriptions?  ..... reviewing documentation ... I see ... like you said:
Code: [Select]
... all groups of type "Mailing List" AND with public visibility are displayed on this form.
Or you can add a group ID to the URL to provide signup for a specific group (gid=N):
UnSubscribeURL - looks like just what I need - investigating

Thanks!
