Custom fiels in search result
May 10, 2007, 03:35:49 am
Hi all,

Is there a way to put a custom field in the search result.

currantly it lists the following:
Name, Address, City, State, Postal, Country, Email, Phone

On my registration form i have made a custom field 'Company'.
Can i add this field to the search result?
Is there a option i mist, or do i need to go in to the core?

You can do this in two ways...both using a "Profile"
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Profiles+Admin

1. Customize the "Advanced Search" results listings:
* create a Profile and check "Used For" = "Search Results"
* add ALL the fields you want included in the results
* go to Advanced Seach and select your profile in the "Search Views" dropdown (upper right)
* do your search

2. Create a custom Profile search form
This is described in the documentation here:

Are there limitations to the types of fields allowed to be included on a search view? I've tried to include 'Participant' fields in a profile, and several seem not to work. Specifically, "Register Date" returns no data in the table view, and additionally, CiviCRM crashes when a user tries to sort by this column. I am unclear whether this is a bug, or that these fields were not intended to be searchable, or a problem with my implementation. Strange behavior, as the custom 'Participant' fields are listing just fine.

Long story short - is there a way to display "Register Date" in an advanced search result table, either through a search view or other means?

Search view results might not be correct if a contact has more than one participant record. Note the Advanced Search is very much contact centric, hence it will show only one contact record.

Also CiviCRM does not allow Search View for Participant profile.
