Upgrading from 3.2.3 to 3.3.5 Breaks 'Print Report' 'PDF' and 'Export to CSV'
February 22, 2011, 11:14:20 am
I'm fairly new to this so please be gentle... In our 3.2.3 installation we can print reports and export to CSV without problem. On upgrading to 3.3.5 perssing any of the 3 buttons gives a HTTP 500 error in IE8 and nothing at all in FF3.6. Tried several different reports/templates with the same symptoms

I've tried this upgrade several times, following the Step-by-Step Upgrade Procedures as closely as I can with a consistent result

What am I doing wrong/missing out please?

500 means a problem on the server. Are you using fastcgi ?

Try to get the logs of your webserver, should give more information about what is broken.

Thanks for that.

The relevant log entry (/var/log/httpd/error_log) looks to be PHP Fatal Error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted...

I allocated a bit more RAM to the VM and the problem seems to have gone away.

And with a bit more Googling and rummaging I think that a better solution was to increase the memory available to PHP from 64MB to 128MB (I guess that restarting the machine just freed up some of that 64MB). Subsequently, this also helped with a data import (white screen before memory increase).
