Internal Server Error 500 on install
February 23, 2011, 03:30:18 am
Hi All,

I've been trying to install civicrm on a VPS server running
Centos 5
php 5
MySQL 5.0.77

It's running
Web/Virtualmin
some Drupal websites

and I've got 1Gb ram and upped the php memory to 64M from 32M in php.ini (and restarted)

When I run the install script of the civicrm 3.3.0 it's just sits there, and then after a period of time I get a 500 error

I looked in the logs, and it was timing out after 30s, so I upped that to 60s and it still timed out, then I changed it to unlimited time, and it just sat there for an age but still didn't install - can anyone offer any ideas as to why it may not run, and any options I should check on...?

Thanks in advance

A.

In my opinion, this is hard to say. :(

Something is getting stuck but I couldn't guess what it is. The only approach I could suggest in this case would be to manually debug the installer code and find where it hangs.

I have had similar issue but it is with upgrading instead of installing.

You can always install a Drupal/Civi on your local machine and basically do a file/db dump to your web/database server and change the appropriate variables in sites/default/civicrm.settings.php

It's something I have done for upgrading a few civi sites.

Good luck
