One event for two Saturdays
February 23, 2011, 07:17:45 am
I'm doing some pro bono work for our local Literacy Council and they have a need to register Tutors in their Tutor Training Workshop.  The free workshop is on two consecutive Saturdays from 9 AM to 4:30 PM.

Is there a way to link two Events together?  I would like to attendees register once and they're listed as attendees for the March 12th and March 19th workshops.

I've tried creating a template, but it doesn't seem to link the two together.  How would I do this?

Thanks in advance!

Does it means that you want to register participant for event2 ( automatically ), as soon as he registered for event1?
If so u can do using civicrm_hooks and api.
For this u need to implement hook_civicrm_postProcess ( http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC33/CiviCRM+hook+specification#CiviCRMhookspecification-hookcivicrmpostProcess ), and within it u need to call civicrm api to register participant for event2 ( http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC33/Participant+and+Participant+Payment+APIs#ParticipantandParticipantPaymentAPIs-civicrmparticipantcreate%28%24params%29 ).

It's one event that takes place over two days.  For example, they sign up for Workshop 1 which consists of class day 1 and class day 2.  Does that change the answer at all?

I started responding then aborted as I thought I was wasting your time. But if it is only one event, then why not just have one event? If there are particular information you need for the second saturday, you should be able to capture that as Participant data. If all the people attending #1 are attending #2 then unclear what benefits you are trying to get out of having two Event Registration forms, since they only register once.

You know, I think I'm getting a little to anal retentive.  I'll just put in the first Saturday with the second date in the description.

The only reason would be to make sure that the iCalendar capability would work correctly - but I'll do that as a phase II

Thanks for the great feedback
