Linking from Menu Item to an Event Type / Category

I need to link from a menu link item to a specific Event Type (category) and the instructions in the support documentation doesn't match what I'm seeing. Any ideas?

there's currently no menu item option to display a list of events filtered by category.
but take a look at:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC33/CiviEvent+Joomla+Module
which can do that.
and in J you can insert a module in an article to mimic a full page display.

Hi Guys:

Specially for icdweb. I spend 2 days looking for a new template or a custom template make my own to do this. I wanna try to list a group of events filtred by category.

This solution of a module in a artycle was wonderful for me, so i would like to say thank you guys.

I am sure that i need more solutions from this site in next days so.... See you¡¡

Hi Guys,

I am setting up CIVIEvents within Joomla 2.5 for an organisation that has events in various states in Australia including some events that would be considered national events. I want to have different menus for each state and display public active events from that state only. Is there any way to do this?

I have installed the module above but cant see how I can filter by anything. Sorry if I haven't understood something.

Also, there is a mention of categories of events above. Are you talking about Event Types or something else?
