Importing results in a small "Contact" text file being downloaded, but no import
February 23, 2011, 02:56:07 pm
I'm trying to import a csv file (saved from Excel both as a plain csv file and as a csv/windows file): 455 rows, 39 columns.

I get all the way through Step 3, then when I click ok to import, a Firefox pop-up window comes up asking me if I want to download the file "contact" from the internet.  (Screen-cap attached.) Clicking yes brings me a 28k empty plain text file.  Yes or no, the import hangs at 0%.  In Safari, I get a screen of coded text - and again, no imports.

Haven't seen anything describing such behavior in the forums - can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!.

I think I figured this one out, pretty much by going through and importing one column at a time.  Seems my integer field for population was formatted with the thousands separator.  Once I reformatted it, the weirdness went away.

He he! I've just noticed the exact same problem!

I'm surprised this one hasn't come out in the wash earlier. At least (non-accidental) techies are on to it now.

can you please file an issue, we'll fix it for the 3.4 release so that the error is displayed on the browser rather than an html page download
