Can't find civicrm_add_domain.mysql in the folder
February 26, 2011, 12:18:23 am
Hello,

I was looking at the multi-site installation instructions and I really liked the idea of not having to have multiple database.  However, when I look for civicrm_add_domain.mysql in my SQL folder of Civi 4 or 3.3, I cannot find it.  Is this no longer possible at these versions or am I lookng at the wrong place?

Thanks
sky

Realizing I am replying to my own post, I thought I would provide content stitching.

I now realize domain ID feature in CiviCRM was removed as of 2.1 (ref: http://civicrm.org/node/352) and I hadn't realized it as it is still mentioned on the multi-site instructions.

Here is the different question I would like to see answered instead:
On the above referenced URL, statement is made on 'not having seen a use case where multiple database's won't be sufficient.  I have two needs I need advise on:
1. Enable segregation for individual organizations but the main entity/HQ to be able to see all contact data
2. Simplify new org setup as much as possible for new chapter or departments.

Advise on this specific need is much appreciated.

Thanks
Sky

hey sky:

check this out:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC33/Multi+Site+Installation

there is a new script called: bin/AddNewOrgToMultiSite.php

there is also a module that implements multisite acl here:

http://svn.civicrm.org/tools/trunk/drupal/modules/multisite/

while we have backed away from using domain_id only to separate installs, in recent releases we've been doing some stuff with ACL and acl hooks to implement chapter based support. this stuff is in the core code base. the docs on this are pretty limited. would be great if you can do some "wiki" gardening and remove the older obsoleted docs

Hi guys, are there any additional instructions for use of this AddNewOrgToMultiSite.php file? I have been struggling with multi-site/multi-org configuration off and on for a few weeks now.

the script u referenced is obsolete. Might want to get on IRC and chat with eileen / petednz about multisite and its features. IMO, its still a work in progress and can do with a lot more love and care :)
