Open Atrium & CiviCRM
February 28, 2011, 07:52:08 am
I am building a site that combines Open Atrium & CiviCRM, and I am looking for an efficient document management tool to integrate with it.  I need to attach documents (PDF or Word etc) to individuals on CiviCRM, and they need to be searchable. Has anyone here ever come across a similar use case?

Many thanks

What are the advantages you see to having the files attached to the civi record, rather than attaching to the Drupal record and searching through a Views interface?

An option to integrate the SOLR search engine w/ CiviCRM was added in 3.1 for the NY State Senate implementation. I'm pretty sure they are using it in production and according to the spec it includes searches of documents attached to contacts.

Could you upload the docs  through the OA in a more conventional way and then have a CiviCRM Contact CCK field to link the doc to the contact? Not sure if that would work in your case but we do a few things like that on our intranet and it keeps content where we want it in the Drupal while just the contact stuff lives in civi. You can also do restricted viewing with og-civi group sync if that helps...

Dave
I'd missed the Solr integration, that sounds useful.
