Accepting multiple payments for a single event

For my business, it is necessary to be able to accept multiple payments for a single event.  I researched the Civi Forums, and can see that others have been interested in the same functionality.  However, it was not clear to me the status of this functionality.  Is it being worked on?  Is it completed?  I am using version 3.1.4.  If the functionality exists in the current version, then I would get someone to help me upgrade to the latest version.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

This feature was pushed to a future release because we did not manage to raise sufficient funds. If you/your org can contribute and help push it further along towards its goal that would be great and appreciated

Thanks for the info, Lobo.  I will spend some time reviewing.  If the current/planned functionality is going to make this work for me, I don't mind contributing a bit to the effort. - Rick
