E-mail confirmation templates
February 28, 2011, 12:57:08 pm
Guys - I found and edited a couple of templates for the confirmation e-mails that go out when users are registered for our event; they were at Administer | Configure | Message Templates | System Workflow Templates.  I added some extra verbiage to encourage people to print out and bring their confirmation.

However, it appears I didn't catch them all, because the additional wording is only on those registrations that we enter here in the office by first adding a contact and then adding them as a participant.  The message people get when they self-register does not have the extra language.  Where do I find that template?

Also, what's the difference between on-line and off-line when it comes to "Events - Registration Confirmation and Receipt" in the System Workflow Messages list?

Thanks!

In general each entity (Event, contribution, membership) has an online & offline template.

Think about it in terms of whether the recipient is online or offline - if they are online & fill in the form themselves they get the online template. If they are offline (an admin fills it out) they get the offline template.

Confusingly, sending e-mail receipts from a contribution search uses the online template. That's because it re-uses payment processor code (will probably be fixed someday)

Thanks.  It appears, then, that I just failed to make the change to one or the other of the templates.  Is it okay to just paste the entirety of the offline template code into the online template and vice-versa?

It kinda depends - they both have inbuilt logic so if you are completely over-writing that then maybe but probably not
