[Solved] - Opinion please - Best way to handle an emergency contact
March 03, 2011, 07:29:12 am
I'm putting together a volunteer system on a pro bono basis for my local Literacy Council.  One of their requests is to have an Emergency Contact for their volunteers.

Knee jerk reaction is to just create some custom fields and stick it on the Volunteer / Individual form, but was wondering if it made more sense to create a relationship?

Pros/cons?

Thanks all!

for my school module, i used contacts and relationships to store emergency contact info since those contacts have some overlap with the parent info

however, if u r collecting this via a profile, u'll need to implement hooks and customized templates. using custom fields to store emergency info allows u to use profiles without any custom code
