Employer name in default search results
March 03, 2011, 10:23:45 am
Hello,

I am managing a custom standalone CiviCRM 3.1.6 standalone instance and we want to display the employer of every contact returned by the default search form.

I have read many things about defining a profile and setting it to be used with the default search form but it doesn't seem to work.

Could someone explain step by step how to achieve that?

Thanks a lot and best regards.

Sorry no one was able to answer your question directly. One reason may be that we are all mostly more focused on the later versions of CiviCRM and we are now at version 3.3.5. You may be aware that the standalone version development ended with version 3.1.

It is possible, however, to convert your standalone into a Drupal or Joomla-based site and then also upgrade to the latest CiviCRM.

Regarding your current situation, could you clarify what you read and what you tried that didn't work? Then someone might be able to suggest a solution.

I'm well aware of that, however the people who customized our installation didn't do it the correct way and there are far too many hardcoded changes to be able to upgrade this installation (with our limited cash supply) to a supported Drupal or Joomla version.

However the search engine was not modified AFAIK and I still hope I can use the standard way to add those columns.

I've read mostly :
wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC33/Profiles+Admin and several other forum posts.

What I did was :
1) Went to : Administer->Customize->CiviCRM Profiles
2) New CiviCRM Profile (didn't found what profile is used by default for the search results) named "test"
3) Checked "Profile" and "Search results" in the profile settings
4) Added two fields in the Profile (Organisation Name (Organisation) and Email (Primary contact))
5) Went to : Administer->Configure->Global settings->Search settings
6) Changed "Default contact search profile" from "default" to "test"

Expected results :
searching shows only (or at least) Organisation name and Email

Actual Results :
searching shows the same as before but the column headers are empty...

Hope someone can help.
