Syncing Contacts with Drupal Users
March 04, 2011, 02:59:58 pm
I am trying to get Drupal (v6) to automatically create a user acct every time a new CiviCRM (3.3.2) contact/member is created.  I can't seem to find a simple, automatic solution.  I see that syncing the other way Drupal Accts >> Civi Contacts is easy.  But what about the other way around?

I do find it mentioned here and there, but I haven't seen a real solution.  Any ideas?

how are contacts being created? - if through backend, you could set up a profile that 'requires drupal' and create them that way - or set up a SMart Group for all Civi contacts with no cms record (in Adv Search)

Then export email + first + last and use Drupal Module = User Import

May help.

Initially contacts are being imported, like 10K of them.

Then, members have a signup form.

I want to do it so that it is automated, so that they can later log in to a member center on the site and use a community/etc.

Is there a way to do it with hooks or possibly some hidden fields in the signup form?

If you have the Contact in civicrm, and then get them to fill in  a Profile, assuming the 'match' works, you will have them add the Drupal a/c to the Civi record.
But you can create drupal accounts after you do the import using User Import.
Can't answer your other ideas. sorry.
