Can I put an auto-filling date field in a Profile (for a "Last-Date Updated")?
March 07, 2011, 04:01:37 am
I'm in the final stages of building a database of about 3,000 organizations (currently) who will be able to access their records via edit profiles, and update them for public viewing via search profiles.

I want profile searchers to be able to tell how fresh the data in the records they're seeing may be.  I believe the best way to do that would to be place an auto-fill "Last Date Updated" field in the search profile (maybe the edit profile, too?) which would be automatically filled in with the current date upon record save.  I believe CiviCRM has such a field somewhere - yes?  If so, where can I find it for use in profiles?  (If not, I suppose I could ask people to fill in the date themselves - but I'd like to take that burden off them.)

This must be a common use - but a quick search of the documentation & forums didn't turn up anything.  Can someone point me in the right direction?   Thanks!

~ Rob

I've gone ahead with a custom field for this use - I'm making it a required field on the edit profiles.  Is there any way to set the default value for a date field to the current date?  Thanks.

The "Change Log" tab will always show the last date updated/modified as well as all previous dates. Eventually, with Logging Enabled True in Global settings, will display what was changed and by whom.

I realize that it would be nice to have that on the Summary Overlay Display, but creating a custom field is really redundant of the "Change Log" Tab.

Thank you.  Can I place that field in a search profile?  I haven't seen how yet.  I'd like users who are browsing through the profile searches to be able to tell which records contained fresh information. ~ Rob
