Does anyone have experience in dealing with debentures in Civi?

Not as such, but surely a Debenture is part financial instrument (a loan, which Civi isn't that well set up to handle) and part membership (where debenture holders effectively have different rights e.g. Wimbledon debenture holders get different tickets a seat access). As a membership, its effectively a membership with a status override or a lifetime membership that you terminate when it is transferred. Membership fields could be used to hold details about the debenture, perhaps?

The debenture will be "owned" by an individual or organisation, like a membership. Depending how/when you track money the membership price would be the size of the debenture or you'd record that as a separate custom field.
