DB error accessing CiviMember Membership Types (CiviCRM 3.3)
March 10, 2011, 07:53:25 pm
Whenever I try to access Membership Types in CiviMember I get the following message:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
DB Error: no such field

There is an "Error Details" that looks like it should be a link, but clicking it does nothing.

Some further details:
1. I first got the error when trying to save a new membership type.
2. Checking the civicrm_membership_type table in MySQL shows that the new type was added, regardless of the error.  Perhaps some related table did not get updated?

If I could access the membership types through the interface, I'd delete and re-add all of the types.  But I can't.  I don't mind simply deleting records directly from the MySQL table, but I don't know what other tables may have foreign keys to this table.

Does anyone have any idea what may be going on, or how I can fix it?

I'm using Joomlal 1.5.  I doubt it could be replicated anyway.  I was doing normal configuration activities, adding member type, when the first error occured.  Now I can't even access the Member Types page.

I really just want to recover from it.  I wish the error message were more specific that just going, "You've got a problem".  :(  As it is, the error message doesn't even identify that it is coming from CiviCRM.  Since I'm in the CiviCRM Admin pages, I don't think this is a Joomla message.

1. would help us a bit if you can try to reproduce it on the demo machine. the joomla/drupal differences are fairly minor in the core civicrm code

2. delete the membership type you just created from civicrm_membership_type table and see if that fixes it.

3. Do a view source and see if you can see the error message
