Search criteria: all campaigns are listed as 'current'
March 10, 2011, 09:57:04 pm
3.4.alpha2 (reproducible on 3.4 Drupal sandbox).

On the search forms for activities, contributions, pledges, mailings, and participants, all campaigns are listed under the heading 'Current Campaigns'. This suggests that there is another category of campaign (non-current or past, perhaps?).

However, all campaigns are listed as 'current', including ...
  • those with an end date in the past
  • those with a start date in the future
  • those which are Planned, Cancelled, or Completed
  • those which are Disabled

What's the purpose of 'Current Campaigns'?
  • If there is another category (eg, 'Past Campaigns') then this is not working
  • If selecting it is meant to match (say) activities associated with any campaign, should the label be changed to 'Any Campaign'?

Hello Ken,

BTW good catch, My bad, I was forgot to consider time factor. Did fixed to consider date w/ time factor also. :)

Currently we do have only two categories to display campaigns on component search screen and those are
1. Current Campaigns : All campaigns those 'End Date' should not be in past.
2. Past Campaigns : All campaigns those 'End Date' should be in past.

There are no subsequent grouping/sections for active and non active campaigns.

It would be great if you give a try once again at http://sandbox.civicrm.org/

thanks

kiran

Kiran,

The demo user on the sandbox appears to not have permissions to access CiviCampaigns,

Kiran,

Previously, having stayed connected to the Sandbox, I couldn't see the "Other" menu, and when I edited the Navigation menu, the permissions were related to CiviGrant, CiviCase, and CiviCampaign. If I added "access CiviCRM", I could then see the menu.

I logged out and in and that behaviour has gone back to normal. Perhaps the Sandbox had been reset under my session?

Returning to your original request, on the Sandbox, I can confirm that a campaign appears as 'past' if ...
  • it has an end date in the past
... but as 'current' if ...
  • it is Disabled
  • it is Completed
  • it is Cancelled

I suggest that people will find this counter-intuitive (when I Cancel other CiviCRM objects they 'go away'). I'm wondering whether this behaviour should be more like Relationships, which become 'inactive' when they have a past end date or are disabled. Then the labels would be 'active campaigns' and 'inactive campaigns'.
