Smart Groups result in "The page isn't redirecting properly" message
March 11, 2011, 09:59:17 am
I created 10 smart groups this morning to put members into groups based on Membership Type. I created each one exactly the same way: Search > Advanced Search > Memberships > select the appropriate Membership Types and Membership Status. When the search results display, I select all and use actions > New Smart Group to create the group.

Eight of the groups work perfectly. Two don't work at all. Each time I try to view the contacts or try to delete either of these two groups, I get the following message:

The page isn't redirecting properly.
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

I haven't been able to figure out what caused this or what to do about it. I'd like to just delete the two problem groups and recreate them, but I can't delete the groups without getting that error message.

I'm looking for suggestions on troubleshooting or next steps.

Thanks,
Michael

for now the easiest way to delete those two group is to go into mysql command line (or PHPMyAdmin) and delete the corresponding groups from civicrm_group and civicrm_saved_search (not sure why we dont have a cascaded constraint to delete that group automatically)

Hi Lobo,

Thanks, that worked. I was able to delete the two smart groups that didn't work and then recreate them in CiviCRM.

Thanks very much!
Michael
