Confusing question about usability
December 27, 2007, 07:11:19 pm
The message “non-recoverable error has occurred” and yellow screen is appeared if you try to subscribe to event before registration start date.
It looks like serious system message with following chock-like reaction.
It is actually confusing question of usability.
I can imagine, if this message coming up to ordinary members. They will believe that our site was completely crashed.
It could be nice to have customizable error processing or distinguish the errors visible to administrative stuff and the errors visible to innocent members.
Some other usability elements could be also improved by formatting. F. ex. if you left empty some required fields in a form the warning messages have the same gray color as surrounded ordinary text. It is especially hard to read for people with eyesight disorders as our members are :o(
