Search on non public fields
March 13, 2011, 09:58:04 am
Hi,

Want to grant some users a simplified search, using profile. However, I want to give that to only a group, not to everyone.

To be able to search/list, you need to make the field public. I don't understand why it needs to be public to be searchable.

How can I achieve providing a search to a subset of users (a simplified one, not the full search).

Hello Xavier,

Did some testing on the demo site, and on my own installs, and came to the conclusion that you can use an ACL for this purpose. used a test group and granted them the ability to search using the Supporter profile, which is not set to public.

Would be interested to know if you found another fix, and if so, what it was.

Cheers,
Jason

Hi,

That's was quite an old question you dug ;)

What I tend to do know is to use api and ajax or smarty.

Or, for a case like this one, view.
