Create Multiple Selection Fields in Event Registration
March 16, 2011, 09:07:47 pm
I'm trying to create an event registration page for a day filled with volunteer projects. I'd like to have the volunteers choose which project they'd prefer to help with, but I'm having a hard time to get that selection done.

Is there a way that I can easily implement this? I've been checking through the Custom Profiles, and haven't seen anything of the sort.

Maybe all you need to do is create a Participant Field of checksum or whatever - then add that to a Profile and include that in the Event form

The thing is:

1. I'm not sure what you meant when you said checksum
2. I really hope to be able to allow them to select from a predefined list, for data control, and to ensure we can easily find who's going where.

whoa -sorry - second time today i have  typed rubbish

i meant a checkbox field ie or a select field

so yes you use the checkbox or select field to list your projects and let people select which they are signing up for when they fill in the Event form

I've sat and studied that "Profile Fields" form to create a new field for a profile, and I'm not seeing it. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Guess so - you need to create a Custom Data Field first - then expose it in the Profile - check the chapter in the book on Collecting and Exposing data.

I can't seem to find anything in the manual telling me how to make it show up. Can you show me where, or paste the text here?

So I just realised that it shows up on the person's profile page, but I want them to enter the data when they register for the event. How do I add custom data fields to even registration?

In the Event you need to set some Profiles to show as part of the Online Registration

Have you read the Event chapter in the book - http://en.flossmanuals.net/civicrm/ch032_configuring

There are sections on Custom data and Using Profiles for online Event registration

If you have read these and are still have problems please spell them out more clearly.

If you haven't read them - please do.
