Suddenly unable to import contacts

After successfully importing 200 new contacts in batches of 50, I am no longer able to import any more.

The following error appears within a downloadable page in response to each import attempt :

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
One of parameters (value: AL) is not of the type Float

We are running CiviCRM 3.3.3 on a Joomla 1.5.18 site

(**unclear if this is related but importing more than 50 records at a time caused a different error)

Any suggestions?

It sounds like one of the field you are trying to import, the data type of that field is float, (which means decimal point numbers). But when you mapped that field in the import, one of the record you are importing has a value that is not a decimal point numbers (perhaps just alphanumeric?)

Bottom line is it looks like it might be one or more bad record in your import file.
