Confusion regarding CiviMail setup
March 18, 2011, 08:11:16 am
Hi,

Re: Version 3.3.5

I'd like to use the native setup for CiviMail, including bounce handling.  Can someone point me to the current documentation/implementation for the built-in, supported email processor, please?

Is the "official" documentation moving over to en.flossmanuals.net?  What up?

Thanks,

kmitz

hello kmitz,
looks to me like the documentation is here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC33/CiviMail+Installation but you also need to read some of the sections in the email chapter of the book: http://en.flossmanuals.net/civicrm/ch040_what-is-civimail.

we use the uas smtp service so we've not done the built-in installation.

hope this helps,
cynthia

Thanks.  I had already started setup based on the confluence page you referenced.  At the bottom, there is a link to "The current supported CiviCRM solution is CiviMail Processor...", which is this page:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC33/CiviMail+Processor

At the top of this page, there is this message:  "This page isn't up to date anymore. Use EmailProcessor.php instead."

The link takes you off site to flossmanuals, but the official manual has always been right on the civicrm wiki, hence my confusion.

I see that there is a broken link on http://civicrm.org/help that points to flossmanuals, so I'm thinking that the docs haven't caught up with the programmers. (The link needs a trailing slash, BTW).

If an official Civi persons happens to read this, could you verify that the latest built-in bounce proccesor for version 3.3.5 is the one referenced on the flossmanual page here: http://en.flossmanuals.net/civicrm/ch042_system-configuration ?

Thanks

kmitz
