How do I duplicate a group of custom fields?
March 18, 2011, 09:29:22 am
I have a group of custom fields setup for households. It's called 2008 tax assessment data. We now have 2011 tax assessment data that I need to import. This needs to be in a separate tab from the 2008 data, but we can't drop the 2008 data. Is there any way I can duplicate that group of custom fields?
Cheers,
Marty.

Not sure - but have you checked out what Multiple Fields let you do - eg have a set of tax fields, including a year date, and then just create a new set each year.

Thanks Pete - the "Allow multiple records" flag won't allow import/export and given that I'm importing about 12,500 tax assessment records, I need the import capability.
Cheers,
Marty.

might want to consider writing a custom import and/or using some drupal db tools (migrate, table wizard etc)

i think modelling your custom groups right is quite important. Having a custom group / year will definitely lead to scale / reporting issues going forward, IMO
