Field Help text not showing up in Profile

I created a profile that allows a user to search on specific criteria to find contacts. The only 'Used for' checkbox that I checked is 'Profile'. In one of the fields I entered text in the 'Field Help' section, when I go to 'Preview' I see the text below the field; however, when I go to the actual profile I see nothing but the field, there is no help text there. Is there a setting that I am missing?

Quirk of civicrm.  Field help entered on for the Custom Data field only shows up on the administration backend.  To show help text on a public form, you must put the help text in the Profile directly.  There is a space for help text in a profile, too.

I think this should be re-labled.

I actually did put the help text in the Field Help text box in the "CiviCRM Profile Fields" section and it shows up when I preview the profile field but not when I actually use the profile. I hope that I am not misunderstanding your reply.

note that the help text for a profile only shows up in edit/create forms and not the search form

this is a limitation and/or feature depending on your viewpoint :)

Well then, that would certainly explain that  :)

What is the best way to add explanatory text to a search form that is based on a profile then?
