Deleting Current Employer creates new blank organization

I have a hunch that I've been creating blank organization records in CiviCRM.  We're using v3.3.5 currently.
 
This happens when someone no longer works for an organization, so I delete their Current Employer.  If they're not associated with a new org, I leave it blank. Text appears under the Current Employer field that says "(new contact record)".  We had some blank orgs before I noticed this, so I can't be sure, but I think that's what's happening.  It's hard to tell, because the contact's record looks like its not associated with an organization since there's no linkable text.

Have others noticed this?  I think the relationship should be rendered inactive (which IS what happens), but a new org should not be created.

Just tried this in Demo and couldn't replicate - can you. When I deleted the contact it then showed a list of lots of potential orgs but if i clicked anywhere outside the dropdown list, they disappeared and it did not say 'new org' etc.

If you can replicate this and maybe grab a screen shot from Demo that might help.

FWIW Blank orgs can be created if you do an import and build a relationship to an org during that import, and have some records that have 'blank' for the employer Org - this did then use to create a blank org in the past - but i think that has been resolved and the import throws an error on those records.

So slightly off track for this issue but HINT if anyone is trying to import records where some have a relationship to create, and others do not, then fill the blanks with a fake Org name eg 'Notexist' - then you can simply delete that record after the Import and get rid of all the blank Relationships.

Thanks for your reply - we also couldn't replicate in the demo, so we're looking into our version. Will post again if we find something that's replicable on the demo site!
