Upgraded to 3.3 from 3.2.2, then migrated old db, getting

I installed a fresh Drupal 6 and Civi 3.3, and then needed to migrate the data from my old Civi/Drupal db (3.2.2). I was trying to follow the instructions for moving servers from here: (won't let me post external links - how stupid is that!?!?)

I also read this post which seemed related, but again it was just removing the templates_c directory again.(again - no links!)

The only post I can find says the same thing I've already tried about 14 times - delete the templates_c folder. But it's not working. The directories are all writeable, so it's not a permissions thing. These are the errors I'm getting:

I don't quite follow what you did. If you installed a fresh CiviCRM 3.3 and then migrated your 3.2 database, you need to then run the upgrade script to upgrade the database: civicrm/upgrade?reset=1

Did you do that?

Yes, I did. And then I got the error that says, "you've done a partial upgrade", in other words, a giant FAIL without any helpful error messages.

Most likely you got that error because you didn't completely empty the fresh 3.3 DB. What I recommend is that you DROP the 3.3 DB completely (not just DROP the tables) and then recreate it and then import your 3.2 and then upgrade.

You hit it - no, I did NOT drop all the civi tables after the 3.3 initial install. I did the import (and then ran upgrade) on top of it after dropping the CONTENTS of the tables only, leaving the tables themselves in place. This was very very helpful - THANK YOU!
