Inconsistency when creating new custom field set
April 06, 2011, 03:13:22 am
I don't know if this behavior is by design, but ...

When I make a new custom field set in the sandbox:
http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/custom/group?action=add&reset=1
the checkbox: "Does this Custom Field Set allow multiple records?" is initially hidden.
When I click the select list: "Used for" and i select for example "Contact" the checkbox still doesn't display.
When i click the option list "Used for" (just clicking the arrow, not clicking any option) again, the checkbox appears behind the list with options.

When you select other options, the checkbox randomly appears and disappear.
I would think that just clicking the arrow without clicking any option would not have any influence on showing this checkbox.
Also, is this checkbox a conditional field? What condition triggers the checkbox for display and usage? I could not find any reference in the documentation.
Personally I think this option "Does this Custom Field Set allow multiple records?" is relevant for all options :)

thanks for any insight on this!
Have a great day,
Johan.

"Does this Custom Field Set allow multiple records?"  option is available only for custom data that extend "Contact". Seems to be working fine for me. Can you give exact steps to replicate.

It seems the odd behavior I describe in my first post is limited to Google Chrome. Just tested on FireFox without a problem. Both Windows 7.
Can only test on my Mac next week when it's back from repair. I'm feeling like a soldier without arms :) :)

Going to dive back in to the docs. I've printed the book and drag it with me all over the world. Just overlooked this one (bangs head to the wall). Thanks for the pointer!
Cheers,
Johan.
